G. Read's Story

Read Hamilton, 90, born in St. Albans, Vt., passed away peacefully at his home in Manchester, Mass., with his loving family by his side.
After WWII service in the Air Force he studied at Oneonta College, Boston University, and Harvard, pursuing a life-long love of learning which he shared with those around him. Read worked as a teacher and principal in the Gloucester school system for 35 years, and was active in hiking, boating, flying, music, folk dancing, woodworking, and family life. He assumed leadership roles in all his activities and generously assisted anyone in need.
He is survived by four daughters and four grandsons. He was loved by many and will be truly missed.
Visitation and service will be held June 14 beginning at 9 a.m. at Boston Crematorium, 287 Main St., Malden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to www.covenanthouse.org.
