Giuseppe Sanfilippo, 78, husband of Girolama Sanfilippo, of Gloucester, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House.
Born in Porticello, Sicily, on December 8, 1937, he was the son of the late Dominic and Vicenza Sanfilippo.
Giuseppe worked as a fisherman out of Gloucester until his retirement. He loved the time he had to spend with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed tending to his garden and playing cards with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Girolama, he is survived by his children, Vincie Scola and husband, John B. Scola Jr., Dominic Sanfilippo and wife, June (Perkins), Angela Quince and husband, John S. Quince Jr., Dora Crivello and husband, Sebastiano; his grandchildren, Kathy Pierce and husband, Andrew, Gerri Mazzeo and husband, Keith, Madison and Nicholas Sanfilippo, Sabrina and Julia Quince, Frank and Sofia Crivello; great-grandchildren, Trent and Alec Pierce; his siblings, Dora Girolando and husband, Salvatore, Nichola Sanfilippo and wife, Anna, Mimia Melodia and husband, Giuseppi, Frank Sanfilippo and wife, Maria, Giovanni Sanfilippo and wife, Angela; sister-in-law, Giuseppa Sanfilippo; brother-in-law, Stefano D’Amico; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Simone Sanfilippo, and his sister, Maria D’Amico.
His funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, on Thursday, June 30, at 10:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church at 11 a.m. Extended family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery.
