Grace's Story

Grace (Taormina) Novello, 84, wife of the late Anthony P. Novello of Gloucester, passed away on Friday morning, October 14, 2016 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
She was born in Terrasini, Sicily, Italy on December 29, 1931, daughter of the late Mercurio and Ninfa (Bologna) Taormina.
One of her great loves in life was cooking for all of her family and friends.She was a fanatic about making homemade food such as pasta, sauce, and pizza. She also enjoyed playing cards and winning money from for sister Eleanora. In her younger days, Grace loved going to Pavilion Beach and swimming. While her husband spent many days at sea, she took her family to Stage Fort Park for large picnics with her extended family. As a longtime Fort Square resident, Grace and the Novello family have strong connections to the neighborhood and St. Peters Fiesta and Grace has always been there for the closing parade.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Kistner and her husband Joe of Waco, Texas; three sons, Anthony Novello and his wife Alyce of Foxboro, Michael Novello and his wife Elizabeth, Nicholas Novello and his wife, Tina all of Gloucester; eight grandchildren, Joe and Rachel Kistner, Victoria and Stephanie Novello, Anthony and Dominic Novello, Krystina and Ryan Novello; her sister, Elenora D’Angelo of Gloucester; her brother, Dominic Taormina and his wife Grace of Gloucester and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Francesca DeMercurio, Giovanna Maggiore and Rosa LoGrasso; two brothers, Frank and Peter Taormina.
Her funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester on Wednesday, October 19, at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass celebrated in St. Ann’s Church, Holy Family Parish at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
