GLOUCESTER: Mr. Harold K. “Wimp” Williams, 89, of Gloucester, passed away Tuesday evening, at the Merrimack Family Hospice House with his loving family at his side. He was the devoted husband of the late Jean (Adams) Williams, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.
Wimp was born November 4, 1926, in Gloucester, son of the late Charles and Amelia (Bent) Williams. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and attended Gloucester Schools.
He was a WW II Navy veteran, serving in Okinawa. He was the owner and operator of Wimps Seaside Auto Body for many years, until his retirement in 1990.
Wimp was a true sportsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, clamming, boating, camping and traveling. In his earlier years, he had a love for hotrods. He was a member of the Cape Ann Sportsman Club for many years and was an avid birdwatcher.
He is survived by his son, Thomas Williams and his wife, Deborah J. of Hampton, N.H.; one brother, Robert Williams and his wife, Marilyn of Gloucester; three cherished grandchildren, Thomas Williams, Jr., Lauren Williams and Caroline Williams. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Christine Williams.
