Helen C. "Nellie"'s Story
Miss Helen C. “Nellie” Lane, 79, of Gloucester, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 29, 2016 after a brief illness.
She was born March 10, 1937 in Gloucester, daughter of the late Russell A. and Ethel M. (Banks) Lane. Helen was a lifelong West Gloucester resident.
She is survived by a sister, Josephine Jacobs; a brother, Arthur Lane; her sisters-in-law, Carol Lane and Thelma Lane. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, including her special niece, Cheryl Jacobs and special nephew, George Haight; her special friends, the Spoon family, Geneva, Doreen and Sandra Spoon; the Wednesday gang, Roscoe Knowles and Carl Costa.
Helen was predeceased by her brothers, George A. Lane, Donald H. Lane and Leslie H. Lane, her sisters, Jennie Duarte and Shirley Haight.
Helen’s graveside service will be on Saturday, September 3, 2016 in Beechbrook Cemetery, Essex Ave West Gloucester at 2 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. For online condolences and register book please visit www.pikenewhall.com.
