Hilda C.'s Story
Mrs. Hilda C. Pata of Gloucester, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House. Her loving family was at her side.
She retired from Gorton’s of Gloucester and worked as a nanny for Dr. Carl Johnson and Cathy Johnson. Hilda was a volunteer rendering services for the elderly for many years.
Hilda was born in Provincetown, Mass. on March 4, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Antone and Hilda Vincent. She was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Clayton, brother Domingos Soares, her husband, Antonio F. Pata and her grandson, Robert Viator, III.
Hilda was loved by her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling to Portugal many times, trips to Florida, taking cruises, visiting her hometown of Provincetown, visiting with her daughter in Maine as well as traveling throughout the United States. Hilda loved her dogs, Malata, Thunder, Penny, Molly, Deva and more.
Hilda is survived by her son, Antonio F. Pata, Jr. and daughters and sons-in-law, Anna and Robert Viator, Lucinda and Albert Viator, Fatima and Brian Heath, Tonie and Thomas Ciarametaro. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew.
Hilda’s visiting hours will be in the Pike-Newhall Funeral Home, 61 Middle St., Gloucester, on Wednesday evening, October 11, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, 140 Prospect St., Gloucester, on Thursday morning, October 12, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, donations in Hilda’s name may be made to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
