Irene M.'s Story
Irene M. Spinney, 88, of Gloucester, wife of the late Ernest Spinney, passed away on Monday morning, August 15, 2016, at the Ledgewood Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Beverly.
Irene was born in Gloucester, Mass., on November 7, 1927, daughter of the late Augustus J. and Adeline F. (Silva) Mitchell.
Irene was employed for many years as the Advertising Manager at the Gloucester Daily Times and then enjoyed working as an administrative assistant at Gloucester Hunneman Realty.
She loved everything country western, especially a good movie, novel, or music. Irene’s passion was being with her beloved, Ernie.
You could find Irene and Ernie enjoying life in their traditional Scotty camper, which she absolutely loved. Irene had a special place in her heart for each and every family member as she loved to share her most special times and priceless treasures with.
Irene loved her traditional typewriter, always typing everything, notes, letters and even grocery lists.
Irene was predeceased by her sister, Thelma Mitchell and her brother, Augustus M. Mitchell.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Mitchell; nephew, Kenneth Mitchell and his wife, Linda; great-niece, Heather Gaudet and her husband, Charles; great-nephew, Jason Mitchell; great-great-nieces, Sage and Sabrina and great-great-nephew, Branson.
Memorial funeral service will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester on Friday, August 19, at 11 a.m., followed by the burial service at Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
