Janet Pride's Story
Janet "Peanut" "Gamma" (Pride) Davis of Gloucester, formerly of Wellesley and Conomo Point, Essex, passed away peacefully at home, December 14, 2016 just short of her 89th birthday.
Born on December 21, 1927 in Medford, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Ober and Mildred (Richardson) Pride.
Janet attended Winchester Schools until her senior year when she transferred to Brimmer and May School in Chestnut Hill. That year at Brimmer and May was so special that she continued to attend reunions with her closest friends every year. Janet graduated from Colby College in Maine with a business degree. Conomo Point, Essex, where she summered every year beginning as a small child, was a very special place for her and her family!
The widow of Richard W. Davis, she is survived by her four children, RichardDavis and his wife, Virginia of Andover, Leanne (Davis) Lane and her husband, Douglas of Millersville, Md., Jonathan Davis and his wife, Jennifer of Walpole, and Christopher Davis of Gloucester.
Janet is also survived by her six loving grandchildren; Nicholas Davis and his wife, Alex of Denver, Colo., Michael Lane and his wife, Stephanie of Millersville, Maryland; Timothy Davis of Salem, Laura Davis of Andover; Usha (Lane) Pechner and her husband, Blair of Fort Irwin, California; and Melissa Davis of San Diego, Calif.; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
She was the sister of the late Elizabeth (Pride) Shepherd, and the late Edwin Ober Pride Jr.
Private arrangements are under the direction of Greely Funeral Home of Gloucester with a private graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wellesley.
