Joseph G.'s Story
Joseph G. Rose Jr., 90, husband of the late Julia F. (Roland) Rose of Gloucester, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2016, at the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Gloucester, Mass., on July 1, 1926, son of the late Joseph G. Rose Sr. and Elizabeth Mae (Perry) Rose and was a lifelong resident of Gloucester. He served proudly in the United States Navy during WWII. Joseph became a Gloucester Police Officer and proudly served the community for 33 years. Over the years he was a lifetime member of the Elks, Lodge #892 and a member of Bass Rocks Golf Club for 25 years. He enjoyed golfing, pool, poker and was an outdoorsman. Joe enjoyed softball, fresh and saltwater fishing and even had his catch of a five-pound big mouth bass mounted.
Joseph will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his son, Dana F. Rose and his wife, Linda of Gloucester; three grandchildren, Aaron Rose and his wife, Ginny, Megan Rose, and Mandy Silvestri and her husband, Billy; three great-grandchildren, Owen, Shanyiah and Finn; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Janet.
In keeping with Joe’s wishes, there will be no funeral services and the burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to The Alzheimer’s Association of Eastern Massachusetts, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472 or The American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
