Lila E. (Tuomi)'s Story
Mrs. Lila E. (Tuomi) Victorine, 96, of Gloucester passed away peacefully at Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation following a lengthy illness.
Lila was born April 16, 1920, in Rockport, daughter of the late Toivo and Impi (Laine) Tuomi. At the age of eight she moved to Finland and attended Finnish schools for ten years. Lila returned to the Unites States, alone, at the age of 18.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved nature and gardening, for which she won many awards. She also enjoyed walking and always taking time to stop and smell the flowers.
She is survived by her children, Linda Lila Littleton of Port St. Joe, Fla., Arne Victorine and his wife, Michelle of Palm Harbor, Fla., Robert Victorine and his wife, Marlene (Clarke) of Huntersville, N.C., and John Victorine and his wife, Colleen (Eberwein) of Melbourne, Fla.; and her 12 grandchildren, Arne and Kate Victorine, Samuel and Ethan Littleton, Ian, Erin, Alex, Juliana, Jon, Timothy, Robert and Amanda Victorine. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and her faithful friends, Lucille LePage and Peggy Wiseman.
She was predeceased by her son, Lauri Victorine and sister, Martha Fager.
Lila’s graveside service will be in Seaside Cemetery, Gloucester on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. For online condolences and register book, please visit www.pikenewhall.com.
