Lois's Story

WINDERMERE, FL: In the afternoon of December 14, Lois Roanne Cameron, 88, of Windermere, Fla., wife of the late George “Ned” Cameron, passed away from natural causes.

Lois was born September 24,1927, in Beaver Falls, Pa. She was the daughter Harry and Gladys Schaefer, and sister of Jeanne O’Neil.

Lois was a surgical nurse, avid private pilot, and longtime business owner. Her toy store, The Dancing Bear, in Rockport, Mass., was a fixture on Bearskin Neck for many years and Lois was well known for creating magical shop windows that changed with the seasons and holidays. Lois was a member of the Sandy Bay Yacht Club and spent summers sailing the coastal waters of New England with her husband, Ned and many friends aboard the The Nipper. In the winter, she and Ned sailed the warm waters of the U.S. Virgin Islands. Lois also enjoyed traveling, skiing, and entertaining.

Lois was predeceased by her husband, George Edward Cameron, and son, Douglas Bruce Cameron. Lois is survived by her sons, David Stroud, Windermere, Fla., and Richard Cameron, Galveston Island, Texas; and a daughter, Roanne Robey, Clayton, N.C. She leaves seven grandchildren, Samantha Thibodeau, Alexandra Robey, Andrew Robey, Tucker Cameron, Sydney Cameron, Shaun Cameron and Cassandra Cameron.
