Louise A.'s Story
On August 9, 2016, Louise A. Medico passed away peacefully at the age of 91.
Born in Gloucester, she was the daughter of Charles and Agnes (Dennen) Bennett. In the 8th grade she received the Sawyer Medal, graduated from Gloucester High School with honors and attended the Lynn Burdett School where she studied bookkeeping. After working for several years in the office of the telephone company in Gloucester, she married Ernest Medico. Together they raised their three children and eventually welcomed six grandchildren to the family. An accomplished needlewoman, she blessed her entire family with professionally tailored clothing, hand-knit sweaters, and beautiful quilts. She loved taking trips to Canada or Europe as well as occasional cruises with Ernie and their close friends. For over 70 years she maintained close friendships with “the club girls” who began as high school friends. One of her favorite places was the beach where she would enjoy spending an entire day sitting and chatting with her friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest J. Medico, and her sister, Phyllis J. Swint. She is survived by her children, Anne Prybot, Richard Medico, and Robert Medico (Carol) and her grandchildren, Nicholas Medico, Jacqueline Medico, Andrew Medico, Amy Woodhouse, Sara Hebert and Thomas Prybot; two great-grandchildren, Clara and Michael Hebert, as well as several cousins, nieces and a nephew.
The family extends thanks to the wonderful staff at Seacoast Nursing Home for the wonderful care they provided during the last months of Louise’s life.
