Margaret E.'s Story

Margaret E. “Maggie” (Larkin) Telles, 88, of Brooksby Village, Peabody, formerly of Gloucester, wife of the late Adolph J. Telles, passed away on Saturday afternoon, July 8, 2017, at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington.
She was born in Gloucester on November 20, 1928, daughter of the late John H. and Eva L. (Colby) Larkin.
Margaret was a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1946, and later attended Mansfield Beauty Academy, receiving her certificate for hairdressing.
She worked for Marguerite’s Hair Salon in Manchester-by-the-Sea and later for Miss Elaine’s in Rockport. This is where her colorful personality shined. She was very outgoing and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. Maggie had a great laugh and a great sense of humor.
Margaret and her husband, Adolph enjoyed traveling to Laconia, N.H., which was their favorite place to spend time together.
Maggie love cooking and baking, and she could also be found knitting and sewing, having made plenty of dresses and outfits for her daughters over the years.
She will be greatly missed by her family and many special friends.
She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Anne Telles, Sheila (Telles) Bean and her husband, Richard, all of Marlboro, Mass.; two sons, Steven Telles and his wife, Jackie, David Telles and his wife, Marie, all of Gloucester; seven grandchildren, Michael Telles and his wife, Amber of Glouceser, Jason Telles of Wakefield, Nicholas Telles and his wife, Amy of Lowell, Rachael Telles of Boulder, Colo., Eric Telles of Beverly, Kristin Parady and her husband, Joe of Rockport, Abbie Bertolino and her husband, Nate of Gloucester; five great-grandchildren, Sadie Lou, Reid and Charlie Telles, Joey and Raegan Parady; two sisters, Virginia Mondello of Gloucester and Elizabeth “Betty” Avila of Danvers; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her sister, Katherine Kenneally.
Her funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester on Thursday, July 13, at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home will be held on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Maggie’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
