Marie Anita's Story

Born in Ipswich, Marie was the daughter of Joseph and Agnes Bernier Morin of Ipswich. She graduated Ipswich High School, Class of 1947 and North Shore Baby Hospital of Salem. She was employed by Manchester School Department for 20 years. She was married to James S. “Cuppy” Gillis of Manchester for 57 years.
Marie leaves behind her children, Jane and Donald Walsh of Bridgewater, Mass. and Newport, R.I., Thomas and Natalie Gillis of Gloucester, Nancy and Robert Elwell of Gloucester, Patricia and Benjamin Favaloro of Rockport; James and Deborah Gillis of Gloucester; her twin sister, Marie Annette Morin of Lakeside, Calif. She was pre-deceased by her sisters, Claire Marquis, Eva Marcurele, May MacIssac, and brother, Roland Morin.
Marie also leaves behind grandchildren, Jenna Elwell, Ben Elwell Ian Gillis, Nicholas Favaloro, Kyle Favaloro, Nathaniel Favaloro; great-grandson, Scott Favaloro; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Pine Street, Manchester on Thursday, August 4, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marie’s Memory to the American Lung Association, 460 Totten Pond Rd., Suite 400, Waltham, MA 02451.
