GLOUCESTER: Marie Marcantonio, of Magnolia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 26, 2015. She was the wife of the late Captain Joseph “Mopey” Marcantonio who passed away on August 16, 2011. She was born in Gloucester on April 13, 1943, to Florence and the late Captain Salvatore Curcuru. Early on, she worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance, then later at O'Donnel-Usen, until her retirement. She was an avid fan of the Patriots, never missing a game. She loved family gatherings, especially Christmas Eve at her house, as well as knitting, crafts, shopping, and going to Mohegan Sun.
In addition to her mother, Florence Curcuru, she is survived by her two children, Nicholas Marcantonio and his wife, Carol (Smith) of Belleair, Fls., and Julie Marcantonio of Magnolia; two sisters, Grace (Gaye) Viola, and Carole Salles and her husband, Daniel; two brothers, Philip Curcuru and his wife, Valerie, and Gary Curcuru and partner, Michael Cherrix; sisters-in-law, Donna Curcuru ,Gerry Genthner, Marie Marcantonio; nieces, Holly Ryan, Carla Kolesar, Cristina Kalinsowsky; nephews, Louie Ryan, Jay and David Viola, Nicholas Curcuru, Steven and Tony Curcuru, Larry, Joe and Cosimo Marcantonio. And, last but certainly not least, her beloved dog, Cody. In addition to her husband and father, she was predeceased by her brother, Captain Nicky Curcuru; brother-in-law, Captain Cosmo Marcantonio; and mother- and father-in-law, Lorenzo and Mary Marcantonio.
In keeping with Marie's wishes, services and burial will be private. There will be a celebration of her life at a later date.
