Marilyn A.'s Story

Mrs. Marilyn A. (Thompson) Schmorrow, 65, of Gloucester, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Den Mar Health and Rehabilitation in Rockport, Mass., following a brief illness. She was the loving wife of Michael D. Schmorrow, with whom she shared more than 45 years of marriage.
Marilyn was born June 10, 1951, in Gloucester. She was the daughter of the late Archibald “BooBoo” Thompson and the late Theresa V.T. Hadley. She was a lifelong resident of Gloucester.
Marilyn worked in the Seafood Processing Industry for most of her career, which included successful tenures at Gorton’s, O’Donnell Usen Fisheries, Seafood Kitchens and Good Harbor Fillet.
Marilyn will always be remembered as a fun person who enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandsons. Marilyn always looked forward to being with her family during the holidays, especially Christmas. She also enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City, camping and watching football. She was a devoted Patriots fan.
In addition to her loving husband, Michael, Marilyn is survived by her two sons, Michael D. Schmorrow, Jr. and his wife, Dana of Lynn and Mark S. Schmorrow and his fiancé, Laurie Moon of Ipswich. Marilyn is also survived by her brother, Christopher M. Thompson of Beverly and her sister, Linda Thompson of Maine; her two cherished grandsons, Michael D. Schmorrow III and his fiancé, Melissa Martin of Gloucester and James Schmorrow of Lynn; her three great-grandchildren, Michael IV, Aiden and Morgan; and many nieces and nephews.
Marilyn’s visiting hours will be in the Pike-Newhall Funeral Home, 61 Middle St., Gloucester on Friday, April 21, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a prayer service at noon.
