Mary C.'s Story
Mrs. Mary C. (Ciaramitaro) Collins, 71, of Gloucester, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016 in Ledgewood Rehabilitation and skilled Nursing Center in Beverly following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of Kevin E. Collins with whom she shared 32 years of marriage.
Mary was born February 28, 1945 in Gloucester, daughter of the late Frank and Phyllis (Hiltz) Ciaramitaro. She was a resident of Gloucester for most of her life. A graduate of Gloucester High School.
Upon completing High School Mary joined the United States Army and served at the Pentagon for four years.
She was a custodian in Gloucester Public Schools for over 15 years until her retirement. After retiring she went and worked at the Bakery at Stop and Shop for 12 years.
Mary enjoyed traveling with her family. She would take weekly trips up the coast to Maine with her daughter and sister. She also enjoyed quiet nights at home cooking and coloring with her husband as well as her weekly breakfast with her high school friend Lois Hamilton.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff as Ledgewood Rehabilitation for the care and love they showed to Mary while she was there.
In addition to her loving husband Kevin, Mary is survived by her daughter Christina “Tia” Topp of Gloucester, her sister Donna Ciaramitaro of Gloucester; her aunts, Grace Brancleone, Mary Barbagallo, Janette Lattof and her husband John as well as many cousins and friends.
