Mary G.'s Story
Mary G. (Lovasco) (Sinagra) Waller, 87, of North Palm Beach, FL, formerly of Gloucester, wife of Robert E. “Gene” Waller, passed away in Florida on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. Mary was born in Terrasini, Sicily, Italy on September 24, 1928, the daughter of the late Sebastiano and Grace (Brancaleone) Lovasco.
Mary was a homemaker, enjoying raising her children, sewing, and cooking. She loved walking and exercising. Mary was a member of the Madonna del Rosario Society, a Eucharistic Minister and visited the sick with the Legion of Mary. She loved traveling and had been to Italy, Yugoslavia, Jerusalem, Spain, Portugal, Arizona and the Grand Canyon, as well as cruising. Gene and Mary would take their boat and they would set off for the Bahamas and enjoy fishing for mahi mahi as well as joining in on tournaments. She will be remembered and loved by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Gene Waller; her daughters, Catherine Russ and her husband, John of Gloucester, Carolyn Curcuru and her husband, Joseph of Scottsdale, Ariz., Christine Brownell and her husband, Ron, of Kissimmee, Fla.; son-in-law, Michael Logan; eight grandchildren, Louis Logan, Samantha Russ, Katie Mahan and her husband, Mark, Jessica Militello and her husband, Keith, Jack Russ, serving in Germany in the Air force, Olivia Curcuru, Carla Hannon and her husband, Derek, Victoria Brownell; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Joseph and Sebastian Lovasco, both of Nevada, Peter Lovasco and his wife, Sharon of Gloucester, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her first husband in 1989, Louis J. Sinagra; their daughter, Carla R. Logan; brothers, Antonio and Salvatore Lovasco and her sister, Catherine Brancaleone.
Her funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, on Wednesday, April 27, at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass celebrated in St. Ann’s Church, Holy Family Parish at 10 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited. Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home are on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. The burial will be held on Thursday, April 28, at 1 p.m. in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to St. Ann’s Church, Holy Family Parish, 60 Prospect Street, Gloucester, MA 01930.
