Mary Louise's Story
Mary Louise Merchant, 70, loving companion for 35 years to John Bennett of Manchester, died Sunday, June 12, 2016, at home surrounded by her family.
Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Orlando and Mary C. (Homan) Merchant. She was raised in Manchester by the Sea, graduated from Manchester High School and earned her Degree from North Shore Community College.
Ms. Merchant was employed as a commercial banker, having worked for Bank Boston, Citizen’s Bank, and Boston Private Bank & Trust until the time of her retirement.
A lifelong resident of Manchester by the Sea, she was a member of the American Legion Post #113 Auxiliary in Manchester. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her longtime, loving companion, she is survived by her son, Lee M. Malo and his wife, Victoria Mooney of Peabody; a daughter, Charissa Tillman Singelton and her husband, Ron of Canton, N.C.; two grandchildren, Zachary I. Malo of Peabody and Alexander M. Malo of Beverly; and many cousins including, Ann M. Persson of Sweden. She was also the sister of the late Katherine Merchant Burbine and Arnold Merchant.
