Nancy L.'s Story

Text size

Nancy Lambert Harrington, 87, passed away on July 17, 2016, at Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Syracuse, N.Y., on April 15, 1929, the daughter of the late Paul C. Lambert and Helen S. Lambert.
Nancy graduated from Nottingham High School, and then attended Cazenovia Junior College in Syracuse, where she met her late, former husband L. Lee Harrington.
Nancy raised her family in Magnolia. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an enthusiastic sports fan and could be seen at ice hockey rinks, ball fields, field hockey games, and soccer stadiums supporting her grandchildren. Nancy was an avid Red Sox fan since the early 1960s. She also enjoyed the Patriots, and loved watching golf on television.
Family was most important to her. She loved her children, their spouses, partners, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, deeply and unconditionally. She enjoyed gatherings with her family, birthday dinners, holidays, and special occasions, like weddings and graduations.
Nancy traveled through Europe and to several Caribbean islands. Her favorite place to vacation was Grand Cayman Island, which she visited over a dozen times. She loved the Seven Mile Beach with its soft sand and warm ocean waters.
Nancy loved her dogs, and later, her cats, like no other. She loved all animals. She was a wonderful mother and friend to all who were fortunate enough to know her. She had a great sense of humor and quick wit. She was a very giving and generous person.
Nancy is survived by her older brother, Paul C. Lambert Jr., and nephew, James of Syracuse, her niece, Connie and husband, Jeff Kotch, and their family of Alexandria, Va.
Nancy is also survived by her loving and devoted children, Nelson Harrington and wife, Kristin of N.C., Paul Harrington of Gloucester, Kevin Harrington and longtime companion, Lois Lane of Rockport, and Pixie Harrington and her husband, Bob Gillis of Gloucester; grandchildren, Paul Harrington Jr. and wife, Michelle, Jason Harrington and wife, Melissa, Jeremy Harrington and wife, Allea, Marissa Frazier and husband, Kevin, Jacqueline Shefshick and husband, Adam, Michelle, Kate, Justin, and Laura Harrington, Jennifer Gillis and husband, Saeed, Rob Gillis and wife, Freya, and Rachel Hartford.
