Nina's Story

GLOUCESTER: Nina T. (Parisi) Curcuru, 82, wife of the late Capt. Thomas Curcuru, passed away peacefully Monday, January 25, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.

Nina was born in Gloucester on May 29, 1933, daughter of the late Filipo and Providenza Parisi. She attended Gloucester schools and worked for over 25 years at O'Donnell Usen Fisheries.

She was a member of the Madonna del Rosario Society and the Retired Seafood Workers Union.

Nina enjoyed her yearly trips to Aruba, Saturday night dancing at the VFW, hosting the Feast of St. Joseph at her home and the St. Peter's Fiesta. She was an avid Red Sox fan.

The most important thing to Nina was her family and her love for cooking, especially her traditional Sunday dinners for her children and their families.

Nina is survived by her four children, Christine and her husband, Stanley Hull, Philip and his wife, Candy, Donna and her husband, Frank Aiello and Thomas Jr. and his wife, Joanne; seven grandchildren, Kristina and her husband, Lewis Keogh, Jaclyn and her husband, Michael Savastra, Brad Curcuru and his wife, Jennifer, Thomas Curcuru, Jillian and her husband, Marty Behsman, Jamie and her husband, Joseph Orlando Jr., and Qiana Curcuru; eight great-grandchildren, Owen and Ellis Keogh, Lucia, Michael and Francis Savastra, Marty Thomas and Drake Behsman and Joseph Orlando III. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Jennie Parisi, Mary Parisi, Florence Curcuru, Phyllis Holmes Curcuru, Anita Curcuru, Grace and husband, Sebastian Nicastro, Rosalie Backus, Mary and husband, Paul Fuhs and Tina Nickerson;brothers-in-law, Anthony and wife, Janice Curcuru, Gerald and wife, Joan Curcuru and Robert and wife, Marcia Curcuru.

Mrs. Curcuru was predeceased by her brothers, Salvatore and wife, Grace Parisi, John and wife, Clotilda (Babe) Parisi, Anthony (Jike) and wife, Angie Parisi, Ambrose and Jean Parisi, Philip Parisi and wife, Virginia and Terry Mountain, Nicholas Parisi, Paul Parisi and Joseph Parisi; her sisters Frances and husband, Gus Demetri, Grace and husband, Angelo Pasquale and Phyllis Hubbard; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Salvatore Curcuru, Nicholas Curcuru, John and Phyllis O'Maley Curcuru, Liborio Curcuru, Joseph and Josephine Curcuru, Philip and Catherine Curcuru, and Felicia Lowe.

The Curcuru family would like to extend a special thank you to her visiting nurse Giacqueline Parisi for the wonderful care she gave to Nina.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 28, at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ann’ Church. Extended family and friends are cordially invited to attend. A visiting hour will precede the Mass on Thursday from 8 to 9 a.m. in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester. The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery.
