Phyllis A. (Sheaves)'s Story
Mrs. Phyllis A. (Sheaves) Salo, 86, formerly of Gloucester, passed away at home after a lengthy illness. She was the loving wife of the late Elmer O. Salo.
Phyllis was born October 19, 1929 in Gloucester, daughter of the late James A. and Agnes (Short) Sheaves. She was a resident of Gloucester for most of her life before moving to Bow, N.H. three years ago and was a graduate of Gloucester High School.
She was the owner and operator of Goose Cove Books in Gloucester since 1988 and retired in 2011.
She enjoyed traveling to Vermont and was a collector of the works of Gloucester artists. She also enjoyed going to book sales. She was a member of All Saints Anglican Church in Concord, N.H.
She is survived by her devoted son, Daniel E. Salo and his wife, Maureen of Bow, N.H.; two brothers, John “Jack” Sheaves and his wife, Dorothy of Middleton and Ronald Sheaves and his wife, Marcia of Novato, Calif.; two grandchildren, Courtney Nylen and her husband, James of Webster, N.H., and Rogan Heath of Pensacola, Fla. She is also survived by one great-granddaughter, Emery Nylen and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one brother, James Sheaves of San Rafael, Calif.; and one sister, Jean Manninen of Gloucester.
Phyllis’ Graveside Service will be on Friday, April 29, 2016 in Beechbrook Cemetery, Essex Ave., Route 133, Gloucester, at 12 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
