Phyllis E.'s Story
Phyllis Elsie (Rowe) Nangle, 91, of Rockport, passed away at the Den Mar Health and Rehabilitation Center in Rockport on January 13, 2017. Phyllis was born in Rockport on February 27, 1925, the daughter of the late Walter and Martha (Graham) Rowe. She was one of seven children. Because of her love for children, she was very active as a Girl Scout leader and a den mother for the Boy Scouts. She loved walking and you would see her all over town with her children, grandchildren and then her great-grandchildren, strolling in the woods or by the beaches and sitting, watching the ocean. She said she enjoyed their company and this always relaxed her. She enjoyed taking care of children and also worked in many shops in the summer down on Bearskin Neck, always interacting with the tourists. Phyllis also worked for the Peg Leg Motel for many years as well as the Rockport National Bank, retiring at the age of 71 years old. She is survived by her four children, William Joseph III; Stephen and his wife, Gini; Phyllis and her husband, Larry; Susanne and her husband, Jim; nine grandchildren, Larry Osier, Jr., Damien, Phillip and Colby Osier, Derek Nangle, Rebekah Morris and Blake Nangle, Brian and Craig McCarthy; along with 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Cheryl Ann Nangle.
Her graveside service will be held in Beech Grove Cemetery, Pleasant Street, Rockport on Wednesday, January 18, at 1 p.m. Family and friends are cordially invited. There are no visiting hours. Online condolences may be given at www.greelyfuneralhome.com.
