Ralph A.'s Story

Text size

Ralph A. Pescatore, 78, of Gloucester, husband of Carol J. (McNevin) Pescatore, passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning, August 8, 2016, at his home. Ralph was born in Somerville on November 11, 1937, the son of the late Ralph L. and Mary Grace (Garzone) Pescatore. He graduated high school and enrolled in Harvard and received a baccalaureate and continued on to Northeastern where he earned his Master's. He was fascinated with entrepreneurship and was never at a loss to try something new. He had several businesses, never quitting and always persevered. He enjoyed helping others in need and he would always keep their secrets. Ralph loved the beach, water, and the fishing, especially at their home in Indiatlantic, Fla., while spending time with their son and grandchildren who also lived there. He took many enjoyable trips to the casinos with his wife, Carol. A very humble man, he never took credit for things he did. He was wise, funny and very intelligent and he was quite a history buff. He grew up during the Depression, the oldest of seven children, and put himself through Harvard. He was crazy about his dog, “Pablo," and the feeling was mutual. But above all, he cherished his family.
He is survived by his wife, Carol, whom he was married to for 55 years; two daughters, Lisa Bouchard of Kingston, N.H., Suzanne Lopes and her husband, Kevin of Bradford; two sons, Steven Pescatore and his wife, Cheryl of Indiatlantic, Fla., Michael Pescatore and his wife, Colleen of Peabody; two sisters, Maria Pescatore of Swampscott, Anna Chang and her husband, Frank of California; four brothers, Robert Pescatore and his wife, Maryanne of Arizona, Richard Pescatore of Beverly, Leonard Pescatore and his wife, Christine of Methuen, Michael Pescatore and his wife, Mary of Beverly; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and an extreme amount of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester, will be held on Thursday, August 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. Family and friends are cordially invited. A memorial Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, Prospect Street, Gloucester, on Friday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to a charity of one’s choice. Online condolences may be given at www.greelyfuneralhome.com.
