Rauni I.'s Story

Rauni I. (Koski) Moody, 86, wife of the late William (Bill) H. Moody, Jr. of Gloucester, passed away on October 16, 2016, at Putnam Farms in Danvers surrounded by her loving family. She and Bill were married for 50 years. She lived for more than 60 years in Riverdale in the family home on the Mill River. Rauni was born in Rockport, Mass., on March 26, 1930, daughter of the late Michael and Ellen (Taskila) Koski. She was a graduate of Rockport High School and was faithfully involved in planning many class reunions. Rauni later graduated from Fisher Junior College with a medical secretarial degree. She was employed for many years at the Cape Ann Medical Center and several other medical offices in Gloucester. Later in life, Rauni enjoyed volunteering at the Visitors Center for the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce. In her spare time, she loved to draw and paint, especially with watercolors. She also enjoyed knitting and would knit hats for newborns in area hospitals. For many years, Rauni and her husband, Bill, wintered in Florida where she was a member of a womens group who made teddy bears for pediatric cancer patients. She will greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her four daughters, Lisa Davis and her husband, Kenneth of Gloucester; Linda Sulkin and her husband, David of Ipswich; Alison Quirk and her husband, Frank of Boston; Phyllis Anderson and her husband, Steven of Newton, N.H.; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey Davis and his wife, Katherine, Lauren Rein and her husband, Mitchel, Alexandra and Ashley Sulkin, Erin and Brendan Quirk, Emily Hills, and Steven Anderson; two great-grandchildren, Aiden Spoon and Harper Davis; and her brother, Henry Koski of Seymour, Tenn.
She was predeceased by her grandson, Michael Davis.
Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, will be held on Thursday, October 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In keeping with her wishes, funeral services and burial will be held privately.
