Robert S.'s Story

Robert S. Clinton, 89, loving and devoted husband of the late Florence J. (Greenlaw) Clinton of Rockport, passed away on Thursday morning, March 9, 2017 at the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Bob and Floss shared 66 years of marriage.
Born in Dover, N.H. on June 21, 1927, Bob was the son of the late Ernest P. and Rose M. (Gallant) Clinton.
He left school to serve in the United States Navy during WWII aboard the destroyer USS Heermann. Following the war, he continued his education and also earned his Journeyman Electrician’s License. He was employed as an Electrician for many years, working out of IBEW Union Local 103.
He enjoyed gardening, playing cards and games like “Marbles”, reading, cooking, woodworking, fishing, watching golf and football, and the many good times shared with dear friends Pat and Emory Perry and Harvey and Bessie Herrick. He especially treasured time spent with family.
Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves daughters, Linda Horn and her husband, Craig of Farmington, N.M. and Laurie Johnson of Bremen, Maine; son, Robert S. Clinton Jr. and Christine Odiaga of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; three grandchildren, Daniel Gareau and his wife Tia of New York City, Cory Clinton of Portland, Ore., and Kit Horn of Albuquerque, N.M.; two great-grandchildren, Neo and Lux Gareau of New York City; his sister, Paula Schmitt and her husband Barry of Vero Beach, Fla.; sister-in-law, Carol Spalding of Kennebunk, Maine; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Babe and Ginny Strople, Billy and Dawn Strople, and Janet O’Donnell, all of Rockport. Bob was predeceased by his sister, Beverly Flagg, and his brother, E. Paul Clinton.
In accordance with his wishes, a Graveside Service will be held at Beech Grove Cemetery, Rockport on Monday, March 13, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There will be no visiting hours.
Bob was a parishioner at the First Baptist Church, Rockport. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 4 High Street, Rockport, MA 01966.
