Robert's Story

GLOUCESTER: In the evening of August 22, 2015, Mr. Robert A. “Scare Crow” Korinko went to be with his Lord. After suffering from a lengthy illness, he spent his final days at Kindred Hospital in Peabody, comforted and surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Linda Korinko, with whom he shared 27 years of marriage.

Robert was born September 21, 1956, son of the late Michael and Katherine Korinko in McKeesport, Pa. He resided in Gloucester for the past 30 years, and enjoyed living by the ocean.

He previously worked on the waterfront unloading boats, until he became a member of the Local 3 and began working as a bricklayer, welder, and mason.

Robert will be remembered as a caring, adventurous, and hardworking man. He loved talking with people and making new friendships. Robert enjoyed playing chess, cards, fishing and being outdoors.

In addition to his wife Linda, he is survived by his two children, Jason R. Korinko and Tara J., Scola and her husband, Peter all of Gloucester; two brothers, Frank and Michael; six sisters, Katherine, Karen Jean, Therese, Carolyn, Michelle and Valerie all of Pennsylvania. Two grandchildren, Harper Korinko and Ariana Scola. He had a special fondness for Brennan and Heather. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Larry.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Robert’s visiting hours in the Pike-Newhall Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, from 12 to 2 and 4 to 6 p.m. There will be a prayer service on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Interment will be private.
