Rosemarie's Story

ESSEX, MA: Rosemarie (Mulcahy) Carr, 80, of Essex, wife of the late Charles Carr, passed away unexpectedly in The Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, on Thursday, August 27, 2015. Rosemarie was born in Medford, on February 3, 1935, the daughter of the late William Francis and Rose Ellen (Lufkin) Mulcahy. Rosemarie had a love of life that took her to many areas of the world. She traveled extensively to Bangkok, Thailand, Rio de Janeiro, Australia, Hawaii, China, Paris and around the United States. She was an aficionado of yard sales, bringing home articles that someone might need someday. She had a flair for baking and she could whip up a mean batch of walnut brownies. Rose was a volunteer at the Essex Senior Center where she answered phones and planned trips for them. An animal lover, she helped out as a foster parent for cats through the Cape Ann Animal Aid, kind of the “Official Cat Lady." Above all, spending time with her family was foremost in her life. She will be lovingly missed by her many relatives and friends. Rose was the last of her siblings and is now joining them, as well as the love of her life, Charles. She is survived by her daughters, Debora Quinn of Norwell, Rosemarie Ellen Carr-Walsh of Edgartown, Martha’s Vineyard; her sons, Wayne W. Carr of OK, Russell Carr of Essex; 11 grandchildren, Joel Carr, Jeremy Carr and his wife, Alex, Sherry Ann Carr, Wayne Carr and his wife, Kim, Jolene Carr, Jeffrey Carr, Tribiah Murphy and her husband, Danny, Heather Steadman and her husband Brian, Kathleyn Carr, Jack and Alex Walsh; 15 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Bobby, Alyssa, Boston, Quinn, Sabrina, Zack, Jacob, Natalie, Xavier, Anna, Megan, Bridy, Nicholas and Nevaeh. She was predeceased by her son, Charles Albert Carr; all her siblings and a great-granddaughter, Michayla-Marie.

Her visiting hours will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester, on Monday, August 31, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. Family and friends are cordially invited. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church on Main St. in Essex. Her burial will be in the Spring St. Cemetery, Essex. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to: Cape Ann Animal Aid, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930.
