Shirleen Popa, 63, beloved wife of Harry Popa, of Gloucester, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, June 17, 2017.
Born in Rexburg, Idaho on June 15, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Vern and Merlin Barker.
After moving to Gloucester from Traverse City, Mich., Shirleen had worked at several local restaurants.
In her spare time, Shirleen was an avid poetry writer and enjoyed going to the beach to relax and listen to the sea where she found inspiration. She was a loving person with a zest for life, she loved to sit and chat and meet new people.
She was a generous donator to Action, Inc., and to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Shirleen also loved shopping, fashion, and decorating her home. She was a devoted member of the Ministry Visions Christiana congregation and felt deeply connected to her faith. No matter what was thrown at her in life, she was resilient and found the positive in everything. Shirleen often said that a sense of humor is key in life. Her humor, kind nature, and loving personality will always be remembered.
She is survived by her high school sweetheart and loving husband, Harry, with whom she spent 41 wonderful years of marriage.
Her funeral service will be held at the Ministry Visions Christiana, 11 Pond Road, Gloucester on Thursday (today), June 22, at 7 p.m. All who knew her are welcome to attend.
