Stewart M.'s Story
Mr. Stewart M. McGillivray, II, 61, of Gloucester, passed away on Wednesday afternoon surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Sandra (Cranston) McGillivray.
Stewart was born in Gloucester on April 14, 1955, son of the late Stewart M. and Providenza (Loiacano) McGillivray; stepson of Ron Corey of Scarborough, Maine. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and attended St. Ann’s School and Gloucester High School.
He worked for Modern Continental with the Local 4 for many years having to retire due to ill health.Stewart was instrumental to the completion of the BIG DIG in Boston. He previously worked on the Waterfront as a Fisherman for 17 years.
Stew enjoyed sport fishing especially sword fishing, the St. Peters Fiesta and was a greasy pole walker for 17 years. He was a Patriots fan and enjoyed watching all sports. Most of all Stew loved being with his children, grandchildren and all of his extended family and friends.
He is survived by his children Stewart M. McGillivray, III and his wife, Stefanie of Gloucester, Meaghan McGillivray and Malarie McGillivray and her longtime companion, Dave Markowitz of Gloucester; his brother, Ronald Corey, Jr. of Gloucester, his sister, Marianne McGillivray of Gloucester; his two treasured grandchildren, Joseph Legendre and Stella McGillivray, one niece, Mollie- Mae McGillivray. He is also survived by many cousins and devoted longtime great friends.
Stewart’s Memorial Service will be at Holy Family Parish in St. Ann’s Church, Prospect Street, Gloucester on Monday, August 8, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Rockport. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to his son Stewart McGillivray.
