Vincenzo Terranova, 83, of Gloucester, husband of Victoria (Brancaleone) Terranova, passed away on Monday morning, August 8, 2016, at the Addison Gilbert Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Terrasini, Sicily, Italy on December 9, 1932, son of the late Vito and Teresa (DiPaola) Terranova.
Vincenzo worked for many years in the fishing industry, but his trade and his passion remained boat building and carpentry.
He was a kind, quiet, caring man who loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He always enjoyed traveling to Italy, walking the boulevard, and took great pride in his vegetable and flower gardens.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Victoria Terranova of Gloucester; two daughters, Mary Grace Terranova of Terrasini, Italy, and Theresa Gallo and her husband, Gianni of Gloucester; his son, Vito Terranova and his wife, Nina of Gloucester; grandchildren, Alessia Connolly and her husband, Martin, Jessica Terranova, Vincenzo Terranova, Sofia Gallo and Martina Gallo, all of Gloucester; a great-grandson, Samuel Vincent Connolly; his sister, Antonina Taormina and her husband, Pietro of Terrasini, Italy; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his sister, Giuseppina Terranova and his brother, Francesco Terranova.
His funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester on Thursday, August 11, at 10:15 a.m., followed by a Mass celebrated in St. Ann’s Church, Holy Family Parish at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home are on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
