SALISBURY, MA: William "Bill" Cheverie, Sr., one of the kindest souls God placed on the earth, has finished his life’s journey. Though missed here on earth, he will be welcomed home by his parents, Percy and Katherine; his son, John; his sister, Margarite (Peggy) Markos; and other loved ones. He was a cancer survivor, who passed suddenly and quickly at home after a normal day of activity on November 23, 2015.
Born on October 6, 1936, Bill was quick to whistle and never one to complain. He lived a family-first lifestyle and was married to his wife, Carole, for 56 years. They had five children. Bill was an Army veteran, serving in France. Bill loved friends, family, and conversation over coffee. He never refused a family member or friend in need, sharing his home and all that he had for as long as was needed. It was the pure happiness of children and the company of family that fed his soul. He worked tirelessly so that his family could enjoy the things he did not know as a child of the Depression. Later in life, he spent 12 joyous years bonding with his grandchildren Jeremy, Sage, and Kylie, as they blossomed into young adults, while helping his daughter Kimberly and son-in-law, Shaun, as they worked and attended college.
Bill will be missed by many, but none more so than by his beloved wife, surviving children, his brother and sisters, nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Our country has lost a veteran but our family has lost our hero.
Carole would like to welcome those who loved her and Bill to enjoy Bill's favorite activity, which was coffee and conversation. The celebration of Bill’s life’s journey will be on Sunday, December 6, 2015, at 11 a.m., at the Community Center, 23 Beach Road, Salisbury, MA.
