William L.'s Story
Mr. William L. Croft, Jr., 56, of Gloucester, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016 in Beverly Hospital after a brief illness.
Billy was born March 20, 1960 in Gloucester, son of William L. Croft, Sr. of Gloucester and the late Faye (Pratt) Croft Maguire. Also survived by his stepmother Dorothy Croft of Gloucester and his stepfather, Francis Maguire of Gloucester. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and attended Gloucester Schools.
He worked for the Gloucester Daily Times and the Salem News delivering Newspapers in Gloucester, Danvers, Essex and Beverly for several years.
He enjoyed boating or as Billy would say yachting, Mechanical work, being on the beach with his metal detector and listening to the lost 45’s. He also was an avid bottle digger and coin collector.
He is also survived by his two sisters, Rosalyn LaCivita and her husband, Michael of Hampstead, N.C. and Renee’ Finley and her husband, John of Easley, S.C.; his nieces and nephew, Jennifer Blake of Hampstead, N.C., his Godson, Jared LaCivita of Hampstead, N.C. and Felicia Finley of Easley, S.C. as well as his great-niece, Lily Blake. Also survived by many loving friends. Billy will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Billy’s graveside service will be in Beechbrook Cemetery, Essex Ave (Route 133), Gloucester, on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. For online condolences and register book please visit www.pikenewhall.com.
