Winifred N.'s Story
Winifred N. (Parker) Figurido, 92, wife of the late Richard M. Figurido of Gloucester, died peacefully while surrounded by her loving family. Winnie was a loving, caring, and compassionate person, whose heart and home was always open to the world. Born in Gloucester on April 17, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Douglas and Muriel (Griffin) Parker. Winnie was a graduate of Gloucester High School with the Class of 1942 and later graduated as a nurse's assistant. She worked as a clerk at Gloucester City Hall and a home health aide of Greater Cape Ann for many years. Winnie was an active member of Our Lady of Good Voyage Church and a member of the Guild of Ladys. She was a member of the Ward Two PTO, volunteering as a room mother and assisting in the library. The Fig's home was always open to family and friends. There was always an extra place or two at the dinner table. Winnie enjoyed knitting, how many Portuguese sweaters did she knit for her grandchildren and friends, well over 100. She was also an avid reader. For over 25 years, Winnie and Dick enjoyed their retirement home with friends and family in Gulfport, Florida. Most of all, she adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and will be greatly missed.
