Albert Henry Enos, Jr. Obituary
Sugarloaf Key - Albert Henry "Umgie" Enos Jr., of Sugarloaf, Florida, born June 16, 1945, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, to Albert Henry Enos and Ethel Gertrude "Budrow" Enos, Albert grew up with his brother John Edward Enos and his sister Pamela Ann "Enos" Ryan. As a child, he loved hockey and football, and held early jobs delivering newspapers and caddying at Bass Rocks Golf Course. He was a lifelong member of the Jubilee Yacht Club, where he enjoyed sailing and fishing. Albert attended Gloucester public schools, Wentworth Institute of Technology, and Lowell Tech, earning a degree in civil engineering. Weekends were often spent fishing with his father and brother along the Gloucester breakwater and local ponds.
In 1987, Albert co-founded NEL ("Narayana Enos LaRoche") Corp., specializing in bridge, marine, concrete, and building construction, as well as infrastructure rehabilitation throughout New England. He was known for his warmth and generosity, often hosting gatherings for family and friends, and was truly the life of the party. In his free time, he enjoyed skiing, fishing, and boating.
Above all, Albert was devoted to his family. He was a constant presence in his daughters' lives—driving them to swim practices, meets, and sailing lessons—and later traveling to visit them and spend time together. His greatest joy was supporting his daughters, Meredith and Rachel, and being a loving grandfather.
In retirement, Albert spent his days fishing, traveling, and enjoying time with his daughters and grandchildren. In 2012, he made Sugarloaf Key, Florida his permanent home, where he could often be found fishing or socializing at the Sugarloaf Marina among friends and family.
Albert was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Ethel Enos; his wife, Lenore Walker; and his brother-in-law, Dennis Ryan.
He is survived by his brother, John Edward "Ed" Enos and his wife Claire; his sister, Pamela Ann "Enos" Ryan; his daughters, Meredith "Merri" Bardsley and her husband Eric Eliasson, and Rachel Manos and her husband Harry-George; his grandchildren, Hayley Severe and her husband Mike, Amber Bardsley, Thomas Manos, Alexandra Manos, and Isabella Manos; his great-grandchildren, Juliana and Kennedy Severe; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private service was held on Saturday, March 21. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
