Gloucester - Carla Augusta Strom, age 83, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025.

Born on February 17, 1942, Carla was the daughter of the late John Arthur Strom and Ellen Ann (Maguire) Strom. She graduated from Keith Hall in Lowell and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern University.

Carla worked as a personnel director at Transonics in Burlington and Kenix Corporation in Lexington. She later moved to Cape Cod, where she served as Human Resources Director for the Town of Barnstable. She especially enjoyed traveling overseas with her family.

A devoted animal lover, Carla was fond of cats—at one point sharing her home with four Maine Coon cats—and is survived by her beloved Chihuahua, Little Guy.

She is survived by her daughter, Laurie MacFadyen Burgoyne, and her husband, William F. Burgoyne; her grandchildren, William G. Burgoyne, Stephen Burgoyne and his wife Sarah Burgoyne, and Jennifer Burgoyne; and her great-grandchildren, Hannah, Lucy, Andrew, and Nicholas. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, including her goddaughter, Patrice Strom Morrill, who all held a special place in her heart.

Carla was predeceased by her parents; her siblings, John Arthur Strom, Jr. and Nancy Jean Strom; and her former husband, Donald MacFadyen.

A celebration of Carla's life will be held at a later date.
