GLOUCESTER - Carolyn P. (Oliver) Harris, 78, of Gloucester, wife of the late Hugh B. Harris Sr. passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday, January 3, 2020. Born in Gloucester, daughter of the late George and Gertrude (Howlett) Oliver.
Carolyn (Fidgie) was a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1959. In her later years, she worked for the Gloucester Daily Times and the City of Gloucester from which she retired.
Carolyn was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, entertaining family and friends at her home and spending time at their camp in Maine. She was a member of the Emblem Club.
Carolyn is survived by three sons, Hugh Harris Jr. and his wife Joanne of Buxton Maine, Greg Harris and his wife Andrea of Gloucester, Keith Harris of Gloucester; one daughter, Julie Dylingowski and her husband Steven of Northfield, N.H.; one brother, Thomas Oliver and his wife Cynthia of Gloucester; 14 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Hilary Oliver.


A funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Ann's Church, Holy Family Parish, Gloucester, on Thursday, January 9, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a burial in Mt. Adnah Cemetery, 109 Leonard Street, Gloucester. Visitation will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, on Wednesday, January 8, from 4 to 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Carolyn was a very dear friend for many years. I have many fond memories that I will cherish forever. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
