Gloucester - Catherine M. Favazza, 84, of Gloucester, wife of the late James "Skip" Favazza, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving family following a lengthy illness.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Concetta (Lovasco) Zappa. Catherine a lifelong resident of Gloucester attended and graduated from St. Ann's High School. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Catherine is survived by her children, Carlo Favazza and his wife Jill, Vincie Hartwell and her husband Malcolm; grandchildren, Meghaen Favazza, Malia Hartwell, Jillian Slier and Cassandra Hartwell; her sisters, Victoria LoPiccolo, Maryann Orlando and her husband, Joseph.
She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-great-niece, Scarlett, who loved and enjoyed visiting her aunt "Cat" every week.
Catherine was predeceased by her sister, Rosalie Zappa; grandson, Douglas Slier; brother, Philip Zappa and brother-in-law, Philip LoPiccolo.
The family would like to thank the staff at Ledgewood Nursing Home and Care Dimensions for their kindness and compassion.
Visiting hours will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, MA on Tuesday, March 31, from 4 to 6 p.m. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Ann's Church, Holy Family Parish on Wednesday, April 1, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
