Catherine M. Randazza Obituary

Gloucester - Catherine M. (Catania) Randazza, of Gloucester, MA, passed away peacefully with family by her side on March 9, 2026, at the age of 95.

Born in Gloucester on September 17, 1930, she was the first of twelve children born to the late Michael and Sarah (Aiello) Catania, and the beloved wife of the late Captain Salvatore P. Randazza Jr.

Catherine graduated from Saint Ann's School and was a lifelong resident of Gloucester. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, and she faithfully attended Mass every Saturday.

Catherine was a working mother, ahead of her time, and worked at Ocean Crest Seafoods for over 20 years. She was a member of the Seafood Retirees. She was a member of the Madonna Del Rosario and Mother of Grace Club and loved participating in the St. Joseph and St. Peter's Novenas.

She loved spending time with her family and getting together with her brothers and sisters on Sundays. She was known for her wonderful sense of humor and for her famous sugu and meatballs. She enjoyed spending time with her special friends at the Rose Baker Senior Center, where she played cards and bingo. She enjoyed many trips to Atlantic City, Foxwoods, and Mohegan Sun, and loved going out to eat at any time of day—especially at Charlie's Place. She was a strong resilient woman who cared for so many during her lifetime, including her siblings and grandchildren. Family was everything to her. She showed love in her own special unique Nana Randazza way.

Catherine is survived by her children, Salvatore Randazza and his wife Elaine; "My" Sharon Monette and her husband Ed; and Andrea Carlson and her husband Chris. She leaves her cherished grandchildren: Regina Randazza; Catherine Caluian and her husband Dan; Elizabeth Kasera; Jennifer Perry and Michael Perruzi; Deanna Perry; Louis Perry and his wife Erica; Austin Monette; Ryan Monette; Christopher Carlson and his wife Alisha; Caitlin Carlson; and Ross Carlson and Deanna Palmisano. She was the proud great-grandmother of 19 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings; Mary Favazza; Janette Fournier; Pauline Pelosi; Vita Lefavor and her husband John; Frank Catania and his wife Gaye; Joe Catania and his wife Debbie; Joyce Curcuru and her husband Michael; and Rosanne Catania.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her children, Michael Randazza and Grace Gail Randazza; her siblings, Vincie Catania, Grace Veerman and Vincie Turner; her brothers-in-law, Richard Veerman, John Favazza, Anthony "Sonny" Pelosi, William Hopkins, and Armand Fournier.

Catherine was lovingly cared for by her daughter Andrea and son-in-law Chris for many years. Her family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Seacoast Nursing Home and Hospice for their compassionate care, advice, and support during this difficult time, as well as to Kristin (Christian) and Glen Sullivan for their kindness and support.

Catherine was the matriarch of the family and will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
