Charles B. "Charlie" Gleason

Gloucester - Charles B. "Charlie" Gleason, 88, of Bass Ave., passed away Monday September 1, 2025 at Beverly Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Gloucester, he was the son of the late Edward P. and Helen E. (Morse) Gleason and the husband of the late Gertrude L. "Trudy" (Perry) Gleason. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and graduated from Gloucester High School in the class of 1955.
Charlie served in the US Army from June 20, 1955 to May 3, 1963, and achieved the rank of Specialist E4. While in the service he received training to be a plumber and was a marksman on the M1 Carbine. He was stationed in Weisbaden, Germany; South Korea; and Fort Stewart in Georgia.
In his youth, Charlie worked for his father as a commercial fisherman. He then went on to work for the water department for the City of Gloucester, eventually being promoted to working foreman. He retired in 1999.
Charlie was a quiet soul. He enjoyed reading US and European history, taking long walks and bird watching. He had a love for animals of all types, and he enjoyed spending time with family.
Charlie is survived by: His son, Charles B. Gleason, Jr.; his daughter Pamela Gleason; his brother, Herbert Gleason; his sister Judith Krupski and her partner Rob Hollingshead; his sister, Mary Dodge; his sisters-in-law, Eleanor Gleason and Judith Perry; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by: His sisters Helen Hollorhan and Ruth Merrick; his brothers, Edward and Timothy Gleason; his brother-in-law, Adrian perry and his sister-in-law, Edith (Perry) Moore.
