Salem - Dale R. Herdman, 65, of Salem, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020, in Everett Rehab and Nursing home following an illness. He was the loving husband of Heidi (Hughes) Herdman with whom he shared 30 years of marriage.
Dale was born October 01, 1954, in Gloucester. He was the son of the late Charleton J. and Muriel (Rowley) Herdman. He moved to Salem in 1978 but always considered Gloucester as his home.
He was a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1973. Dale's career began in Purchasing working for EG&G and Varian. He then went on to follow his passion and love of sports where he owned Sports Collectible and Classic Sports Fan on Bearskin Neck. He loved talking to people about the different trend's, players, and what to collect. Dale was also a Car Guy working for Herb Chambers and Ira Toyota in Danvers and Prime Auto on the Lynnway. He enjoyed all types of sports, cribbage and cherished the time with his family. He will always be remembered for his charismatic personality, sense of humor and network of friends. No matter where he went there was always someone who knew Dale.
Dale is survived by his daughters, Heather and Holly Herdman; his sister Nina C. Story, and brothers Steven J. Herdman and Dean L. Herdman. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews' aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Memorial service will be held for Dale on February 15th 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1123 Washington Street, Gloucester. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
