Daniel Alan Arsenault Obituary

Gloucester - Daniel Alan Arsenault, 70, of Gloucester, passed away April 28, 2026, after a long illness.

Born in Gloucester on February 11, 1956, he was the son of the late Helen F. and Daniel E. Arsenault.

Dan grew up in Gloucester and had a lifelong love of ice hockey, show tunes, and singing. Known for his dry sense of humor and appreciation of Monty Python, he brought a wry perspective to those around him.

He attended Berklee College of Music, where he played with his jazz band, Chunk Light Tuna, and was a founder of the Chalumeau Chamber Ensemble. He later performed with several big bands, including Nelson Riddle and his Orchestra.

Dan spent 15 years in Texas, continuing his musical pursuits while working in technical writing. After returning to Gloucester, he worked as a technical writer in the Boston area and later taught at Gordon College in Wenham.

An avid photographer, he documented covered bridges throughout New England, cultural events on the North Shore, and his nieces' childhood sports.

He is survived by his sister, Gail Guarino (Carmen); his brother, David Arsenault (Laurie); his nieces, Danielle Silverman (Justin) and Julia Rosequist (Brett); his grandnieces and grandnephews, Ryan and Elle Silverman, and Susanna, Samuel, and Emilia Rosequist; and many friends in the musical community.

Services will be announced at a later date. He will be missed—perhaps not always easily, but certainly deeply—by those who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dan's memory to the Gordon College Adams School of Music and the Arts.
