Gloucester - David Arlington Lane Jr., 61, of Gloucester, MA, passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 15, 2026.

Born in York, ME on September 15, 1964, he was the son of the Late Linda Cummings of Bakersfield and David Arlington Lane Sr. and Donna (Curcuru) Lane of Gloucester.

David had a passion for work in the trucking industry. He spent many years working on flat beds, oil tankers, refrigerated units and box vans. David loved the ocean and being with family/friends out on the water at "Seal Island". He enjoyed watching the seals, whales and dolphins while anchored down right off the coast of Rockport. David also loved to go fishing with his sister Susan and cousin Jason. The only thing David loved more than the ocean may be his grandchildren and children. Although his children and grandchildren were spread out over the Western Coast, they were on his mind constantly and he did nothing but spoil them when he was with them. David enjoyed camping, fishing and old cars too.

He is the proud father of three boys, David Brandon Lewis and wife, Hillary, Joshua Allen Lane and his wife Jennisa, and David Jonathan Lane and his wife, Elizabeth. He is also survived by his three brothers, Brian Hosty and his wife, Cindy of Bakersfield, David Joseph Lane and his longtime partner Marie Witham Broadley, and Johnathan Lane as well as his one and only baby sister, Susan Lane, all of Gloucester. David Leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Blake and Draco Lewis of Oklahoma, Jasmine Lane of California and Emile Lane of Kansas and his many loved nieces and nephews, Devin, Ryan and Luke Hosty of Bakersfield, Samantha Lane, Meghan Murphy, and Owen Lane, Drew, Alexah and Jenna Lane, Trevor Garlick, Tabitha Sargeant, Kayla, Skyler, Hunter and Amarryah Lane, all of Gloucester; David was predeceased by his mother, Linda, and many aunts and uncles.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Fred Winship Cummings and Margaret Jane Cummings, Herman F. Lane Sr, and Irvin "chief" Stanley, Barbara Verkyle and great-grandmother, Alice Fiers, Joseph C. Curcuru and Marion Elizabeth (Asaro) Curcuru; His brother, Robert Lee Lane, a special uncle, Mark Lane; his paternal grandmother, Dorothy Stanley;

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services. There will be a Celebration of life Date, TBD, next summer on a boat per his wishes.
