Gloucester - Dexter Murray, Jr., 60, of Gloucester and Groveland, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026.

Cherished husband of Bonnie (MacDougall) Murray and loving father of Jacob, Liam, and Ethan. Born and raised in Gloucester, he later lived in Groveland. Son of the late Dexter Murray, Sr. and Marion (Hubbard) Murray.

An avid and passionate athlete, Dexter loved playing sports, coaching his sons, traveling with his family, being near the water, and watching and quoting movies with his sons.

He began his career at New England Financial and served 21 years as Vice President and Controller at Savings Bank Life Insurance. Diagnosed at 44 with a stage 4 brain tumor, he outlived the standard prognosis and became a top fundraiser for the Boston Brain Tumor Walks, helping others diagnosed.

Survived by his wife, sons, siblings Marcia Andrus, Debra Murray, Daniel Murray, Carol Unis, Marilyn Pratt, and twin brother Dean Murray.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 18, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Haverhill, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Funeral Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 19, in St. Patrick Church, 114 Center Street, Groveland at 11:00 AM. Please meet directly at church.
