Elizabeth Brooke Benham Obituary

Gloucester - Elizabeth Brooke Benham, 41, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025, after a courageous fight with an illness, surrounded by the love of her devoted family. Born and raised in the North Shore community of Gloucester she cherished so deeply, Brooke lived a life defined by strength, resilience, and a wholehearted dedication to the people she loved.

Brooke filled her early years with activity and joy. She played tennis as part of the Bass Rocks tennis team, enjoyed rollerblading and biking with friends around the neighborhood, and simply enjoyed playing games outdoors with their East Gloucester neighborhood friends. She also grew up playing Vikings softball and basketball and spent countless hours outdoors, embracing adventure with her trademark fearlessness—especially at the beach with her family and on childhood skiing trips where she raced down the slopes without hesitation.

Brooke was a graduate of Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School, Class of 2002, playing on the tennis team, and went on to earn her Associate's Degree in Horticulture from North Shore Community College and later received her esthetics license, a testament to her love for nature, beauty, and creativity. She worked on Yankee Fleet as a galley girl, enjoyed her time at Sage Floral Studio, and as a retail associate at Express, always bringing her bright personality and kindness to the people around her. Brooke enjoyed getting her hands dirty in the earth planting beautiful annuals to return year after year.

Above all else, Brooke's proudest role was being a mother. Her three children—Jay, Julian, and Elly Sanfilippo—were the center of her world and the source of her greatest joy. Along with her fiancé Joe Sanfilippo, they adored beach days down Pavilion Beach, walks along the Boulevard, celebrating Fiesta traditions, enjoying Boston hotel trips to explore the city and swim together, and creating memories through simple, cherished moments of togetherness. Family dinners, celebrations, and every opportunity to be close to those she loved were true treasures to Brooke.

Brooke is survived by her loving fiancé, Joe Sanfilippo, and their beloved children: Jay (10), Julian (6), and Elly (5). She is also survived by her father, Bob Benham his partner Cheryl Burton; Brooke's sister, Brittany Viator, her husband Ryan, and their children Cruz, Taj (Godson), Max, and Niko; her sister, Mari Balbo, her husband Danny, and their children Celeste and Reese; her brother, Robbie Benham, his wife Cally, and their son Weston; and Jay, Julian, and Elly's Nonna, Maria Sanfilippo, her daughter Grace Vestal, her husband Michaeal and their children Mia, Michael and Marissa.

Brooke will also be remembered with deep love for her late mother, Terre Benham, whose memory she carried closely throughout her life, as well as her grandparents and godmother Judy Kopanon.

Brooke's presence illuminated every room, every gathering, and every life she touched. Her legacy lives on in her children, her family, and the countless memories of joy, strength, and love she leaves behind.

She will be missed beyond measure.
