Gloucester - Emelia L. (Maldonado) Currier, 91 of Gloucester, beloved wife of the late Charles H. Currier passed away at home on Saturday morning February 7,2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Emelia was born on April 6,1934 in Philadelphia, PA daughter of the late Pedro and Josphine Maldonado.
She grew up in Upper Darby, PA and it was there that she met the love of her life Charlie who was serving in the U.S. Navy. Emelia married Charlie in his hometown of Gloucester, MA on May 23,1953. Following the wedding they moved to the U.S. Naval base in Norfolk, VA.
Emelia and her husband then relocated to Gloucester, where they purchased their forever home and began raising their family. In her new hometown she became a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a loving mother, and took pride in also being a loving, and supportive wife of her husband's many accomplishments throughout the Gloucester community. She enjoyed hosting numerous neighborhood parties, family gatherings, and especially Sunday dinners with her children and grandchildren.
Shopping was a favorite pastime of hers. She would often say "let's go up the line" with her McDonalds diet coke in hand; her family referred to this as her retail therapy. In addition to shopping, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and traveling many places with her husband, family and friends. She held a special place in her heart for all the family pets throughout the years.
"Let's get an iced tea and go for a ride around the back shore, my treat."
She is survived by her daughters Joni Rocha and husband Michael, Michele Sassone and Steve Kaity, Sandra Rallo and husband Angelo; son in law Archie MacLeod Sr.; sister in law Judith (Currier) Clayton; brother in law Jerry Lomax; grandchildren Archie MacLeod Jr. and Jill Slier, Heather Doyle and husband Ryan, Emily Rocha and Shawn Lorden, Philip Sassone Jr., Meghan Kennedy and husband Eric, Angela Rallo, Amber-Rose Rallo and fiance Alex Natti, Marlaina Tucker and husband David Jr., Rachael Rallo; great grandchildren Cynthia, Jane, Ross, Margaret, and Charles Haight, Sheamus and Callum Doyle, Philip III and Trinity Sassone, Maddux Kennedy, Mark MacLeod; nephew Brett Clayton and wife Linda; nieces Julie Clayton and Richard Glover, Debbie Tunstall and husband John, Vickie Hoffecker and husband James. She also leaves behind her beloved cat Buster.
She was predeceased by her son Mark E. Currier, her daughter Cynthia A. (Currier) MacLeod, granddaughter Amy Lynn Rocha, son in law Phil Sassone Sr., sister Dolores (Maldonado) Lomax, her in-laws Edward and Eleanor Currier.
Her visiting hours will be on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at St. Johns Episcopal Church, 48 Middle Street, Gloucester, from 9:30am-11am with a service to follow at 11a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited. Burial is at Mount Pleasant Cemetery on Mt. Pleasant Ave. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory to: the Generous Gardners.
