Gloucester - Estela F. (Brum) Grace, 86, of Gloucester, wife of the late Carleton J. Grace passed away peacefully on Christmas morning, Wednesday, December 25, 2019 following a brief illness with her loving son at her side.
She was born in Pico, Azores on September 20, 1933, daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Lourdes) Brum. She later moved to Gloucester where she met and married Carleton J. Grace. She was a talented seamstress and worked for over 40 years as a specialty seamstress for Mighty Mac. She was a perfectionist, paying attention to every detail, whether it was her garden in her younger years or her sewing projects. She was a member of the DES club and also the Guild of Our Lady of Good Voyage Church. She was very instrumental with the crowning ceremonies and loved to help prepare the altar and be part of this very special yearly tradition. She also enjoyed making the sweet bread at the DES club and looked forward to their meetings each week. Estela and her husband took several trips back to the Azores and she loved to reminisce about her wonderful memories there. Estela was always good for a laugh and had a great sense of humor. In all her life, she found the greatest joy by being surrounded by family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Carleton M. Grace and his wife, Angela; grandchildren, Christopher Grace and his wife, Nicole, Michelle Blair and her husband Jonathan; great-granddaughters, Clara Grace, Jane and Amelia Blair; her sister, Fernanda Alves; sisters-in-law, Fernanda Brum and Frances Grace; brother-in-law, James Grace; nephews and nieces, Robert Alves, Dean Alves, AnnaLee and Carlos Menezes, Doreen and Bruce Wonson, Greg and Marjorie Grace, John and Patrice Grace, Brenda and Steven Laino, Scott and Melissa Brum; and many great-nephews, great-nieces and cousins.
She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Brum; her sister, Elja CostaRita, and brothers-in-law, Carlos CostaRita, Robert Alves, and George Grace.
Her funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester on Monday, December 30, at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. The burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester. Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home will be held on Sunday, December 29, from 4 to 7 p.m.

My deepest sympathy, Carl. May God lift up your heart in the next coming months. You had the best parents on this earth (I literally mean it). You must have so many happy memories of both of them. Just remember your mother is in a much better place and has joined your father.
