Gloucester - Forry "Buck" Buckingham, of Gloucester, formerly of Acton, MA, New York City, Los Angeles, and Baltimore, MD, passed away on June 20, 2026.

Born on February 12, 1950, in Baltimore, Forry was raised in Baltimore and distinguished himself early as an outstanding athlete. He starred in basketball at Hereford High School, helping lead the Bulls on their historic run to the Maryland state semifinals in 1968. He completed his high school career with 1,111 points, the third-highest total in school history, and was later honored as one of the first inductees into the Hereford High School Basketball Hall of Fame.

Following graduation, he continued his athletic career playing basketball at Western Carolina University and football at Catawba College where he graduated with a BA in Psychology and Business Administration. Athletics remained a lifelong passion. Over the years, he played full-court basketball well into adulthood, competed in tennis, earned a third-dan black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and most recently became an avid pickleball player.

Forry began his professional career after being recruited to New York City by Cannon Mills, where he worked in the World Trade Center. After 12 years in New York and 5 years in Los Angeles, he settled in Acton, Massachusetts, where he and his wife, Beth, raised their son, Matthew.

While Forry enjoyed success in many sales-related careers, he was most proud of his 46 year career as a working actor. A member of SAG-AFTRA since 1980, he built a respected career as a journeyman actor in television, film, and daytime dramas. He appeared in numerous productions, including Black Mass, All My Children, Clara's Heart and won an Emmy for his role in a skit on the David Letterman Show. Acting was a source of great pride and fulfillment throughout his life.

After moving to Gloucester 14 years ago, Forry became a top-producing Client Advisor for Acorn Stairlifts. He took particular satisfaction in helping people maintain their independence and remain safely in their homes. In recent years, he also pursued stand-up comedy, bringing his trademark warmth, humor, and storytelling ability to audiences throughout the area.

Forry will be remembered for his gregarious personality, joyful nature, and genuine interest in others. Whether on the court, on stage, or among family and friends, he approached life with energy, optimism, and a generous spirit.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Beth; his devoted son, Matthew; brother and sister in laws: Michael and Sharon LaFrancis, Tim and Judy LaFrancis and Mark LaFrancis, many cousins, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews as well as countless friends, colleagues, teammates and fellow performers who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his parents, Reverend Harry Forry Buckingham and Betty Jean Buckingham and his sister Deborah Buckingham and in-laws Malcolm and Margaret LaFrancis.

A celebration of Forry's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scituate Animal Shelter, 780 Chief Justice Cushing Highway, Scituate, MA 02066 where they adopted their cherished dog, Heidi.

Forry's family is grateful for the many friendships and kindnesses that enriched his life. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
