Gail Anstess Obituary
Gloucester - Gail Anstess, of Gloucester, passed away peacefully in her home after a courageous battle with cancer for 18 months.
Gail was the daughter of Herbert and Janet Anstess. She attended Gloucester High School where she was a member of the GHS Chorus and was also a member of the Rainbow Girls. After high school she attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst where she graduated and received a bachelor's degree in music.
Gail's love of music knew no boundaries (except maybe country music), and you could always hear her say "This is my favorite song!" to so many songs on the radio.
After college Gail moved to Salem, MA and lived there for many years. In 2012 she met the love of her life, Steven Day and moved back to Gloucester to live with him while bringing herself closer to the local beaches she adored so much.
She also loved her cats. They weren't just pets or property to her but deeply loved companions throughout her life.
Gail was predeceased by her parents, Herbert and Janet Anstess. She leaves behind her fiancée and life partner Steven Day, a sister, Claire Mondello of Gloucester and a brother, Ronald Anstess of Coarsegold, California as well as her niece Jaime Yoder and nephews Jason Anstess and Jeff Mondello.
There will be no graveside or memorial services held. A celebration of life will take place later in the summer of 2026. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Campbell Funeral Home, 61 Middle St., Gloucester.
