Rockport - Georganna Joy El Heneidy, 74 years young, fondly known as AJ to those she touched, left us on January 27, 2019. While her abrupt and sudden physical absence leaves us stunned and heartbroken, we can’t help but smile at the mindstamping memories we share and celebrate her beautiful life.

Joy, a renowned residence of the Rockport, Mass. community, with roots in Warwick, R.I., had an open and welcoming home with her true love of 50+ years, Tarek El Heneidy. Together at home, they had so many lovely moments of gatherings, gardening and laughter. Throughout her 23-year tenure as the head nurse at Landmark School, Joy interacted with kids from all over the world, and could always see well past their learning disabilities and into their bright futures.

Her middle name says it all – Joy, a feeling she spread across the globe with unconditional and infectious love. Further, she was a caretaker to many, especially her loving sister, Joanne DiPinto. And even after beloved Tarek’s passing in early 2013, Joy continued to carry on their legacy of kindness, always lending a never-ask-for helping hand. Her only real dislike was the word ‘hate’ and she was always ready to scold with her famous ‘look’ if she caught you using the word or acting on it.

With her love of the color purple, hearts, elephants, thrift stores, any pets [except snakes], Jaguars and Saabs, her family, and those that came into her world and became instant family, she has left us to join her true love and in a warmer place where she and Tarek will once again walk hand-in-hand.

Services will be on Saturday, February 2, 2019:

Visiting hours will be Pike-Newhall Funeral Home 61 Middle St. Gloucester on Saturday, February 2, 2019, from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joachim Church, 56 Broadway, Rockport at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019.

Joy will be laid at rest next to Tarek in Forest Hills Cemetery, 95 Forest St. Boston MA on Monday, February 4, 2019, at 12:00 p.m.
